A few weeks ago when we wrote about the news in the 3.2 core, we mentioned the ability to save your filters definition. That was the first step on our journey to enable users to define views based on their needs. We have some new functionalities in our development version and we are really excited to tell you more about them.
It was possible to save the filter definition. Nice, but what the heck? The missing step was this dialog, which can be automatically hidden on the left handside or can be docked just next to the grid, so you can see it at any time.
Here you can see all views, you have access to. And you can define new as well. The hand icon next to the name means a shared view, which is accessible to more users and which they cannot modify on their own.
And when you save the shared view (which you need to have special rights to do so) you can also specify who will be able to see it. We put there this feature to make the possibility to limit the people which has access to the specific view, so users are not overwhelmed with views they don't have use for.
At this moment we have the huge filter just above each grid. But we really think about removing it and allowing people to filter on any column they can see.
Here, on top of each column, you have much more features which change based on the type of the column. You can choose a specific value, define value which needs to be in the column or even the range of values. It has about the same possibilities as the same dialog in MS Excel.
One of the most common requests from implementations - hide these columns and put there these three instead. And change their order.
There will be no reason for such requests in the future. You will be able to choose which column will be visible and their order, after that you just save the view as a shared one and you are done. We saved work for both sides and once you needs change you can make the appropriate changes on your own.
And one more new feature - you can group data by any column, just drag and drop it on the top line. Yes, you can group by more columns.
